Preserving Childhood Magic

Elementary

Monday, Wednesday
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Children gain the benefits of community, mentorship, and collaborative learning while maintaining the freedom and flexibility of homeschooling

Students rotate through enriching classes over two full days at Folksy including:

Handwork & Fiber

Children learn from a certified Waldorf handwork teacher, beginning with knitting and progressing into crochet, embroidery, and beyond.

Woodworking

Children learn to safely use real tools to create meaningful, useful items by sanding, whittling, carving, shaping, and sawing.

Art & Form Drawing

Form drawing is a foundational practice where children create lines, curves, and patterns that gradually increase in complexity, strengthening fine motor skills, focus, and spatial awareness.

This work supports brain development and lays the groundwork for writing, reading, and mathematical thinking.

Theater & Speech Arts

Children build confidence in public speaking while exploring storytelling, performance, and even elements of set design.

Poetry & Tea Time

We gather for warm tea and shared readings of beautiful, classic poetry, followed by seasonal art inspired by the words.

Cooking & Baking

A hands-on experience where children mix, measure, and create together – preparing farm-fresh ingredients for our shared meals and baking treats to enjoy as a community.

Forest & Farm School

Held outdoors in all weather, we children to move, explore, and grow alongside the seasons. Well tend gardens, help prepare the land for our future farm, play group co-operative games, and practice meaningful outdoor skills like fire safety and first aid.

Gardening

Children learn through meaningful seasonal work in the garden, helping nurture our community lunch program from seed to table. Together, we prepare beds, build woven trellises, tend vegetables and dye plants, and explore seasonal skills like herbalism, preserving, and garden planning.

Children at Folksy are learning constantly… through their hands, their play, and their experiences – while building strong friendships and practical skills, all within a nurturing environment where they are free to remain joyful, curious children.
