Songbirds & Garden Gnomes
Monday, Wednesday
9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
For homeschoolers of the age of 6 – 8 years old, we offer a holistic, full-day experience that seamlessly blends our Waldorf-inspired curriculum at The Folksy House with immersive outdoor learning.
At The Folksy House, each day begins with our children immersed in Main Lessons that come alive through storytelling, movement, and art, creating a collaborative and joyful learning journey. After the Main Lesson, the children transition into handwork, where they engage in activities that not only refine their fine motor skills but also allow them to express their creativity in meaningful ways. The simple, rhythmic motions of knitting, sewing, or weaving bring a sense of calm and focus and lays the foundation for academic success by building focus, perseverance, and cognitive balance.
After lunch, children experience an all-encompassing outdoor adventure. These sessions spark critical thinking and collaborative play in a dynamic, emergent learning environment. Children develop essential life skills such as knot tying, plant identification, and practical first aid, fostering both independence and a deep connection to the natural world. They also take on the role of environmental stewards, contributing to the care and enhancement of our surroundings by planting and maintaining a garden and participating in building projects that benefit local flora and fauna.
In this cozy and supportive environment, our children are not just learning, they’re thriving. With the tools and guidance they receive, they build confidence, master practical skills, and develop a lifelong love of discovery.
Research shows that outdoor learning encourages critical thinking, enhances focus, fosters resilience, supports informed risk management, builds confidence, and sharpens problem-solving skills. In this environment, Folksy kids are inspired to explore their abilities and learn the art of collaboration through play. A full day at Folksy is an adventure that nourishes the head, hands, and heart!

Fridays in the Forest
Fridays
2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
During Fridays in the Forest, children immerse themselves in the full spectrum of what forest schooling has to offer. Each week, they dive into the art of survival skills, learning essential tasks like fire safety, knot tying, and shelter building. Alongside these skills, they explore and study the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit our site, deepening their connection to the natural world.
