For homeschoolers ages 6–12, we offer a holistic, full-day experience that seamlessly blends Waldorf-inspired learning at The Folksy House with immersive outdoor education through our integrated forest and farm program.
Inside the Folksy House, each day unfolds with intention and rhythm, inviting children into meaningful, hands-on experiences that honor both creativity and skill-building. Children engage in rich, purposeful work such as woodworking, cooking and baking, handwork, art and form drawing, theater, and poetry and tea time.
Handwork is a central and cherished part of our program. Children move through a thoughtfully developed curriculum led by a certified Waldorf handwork teacher, building skills in knitting, sewing, and fiber arts. This work strengthens fine motor development, concentration, and perseverance, while also offering a deep sense of accomplishment through creating something by hand.
Rooted in the idea that children learn best through doing, our program emphasizes the revival of lost and traditional skills, allowing children to create with purpose and take pride in their work. Whether shaping wood, preparing food, or expressing themselves through art and performance, children are engaged in experiences that are both meaningful and joyful.
Outside on our forest school grounds, children step into a dynamic, emergent learning environment where exploration, collaboration, and discovery guide their experience. They develop essential life skills such as knot tying, plant identification, practical first aid, and land stewardship, while also taking part in caring for our growing farmstead—tending garden beds, observing seasonal cycles, and contributing to projects that support the natural environment.
A shared farm-to-table style lunch is an important part of our day, offering children time to gather in community, enjoy nourishing food, and practice gratitude, conversation, and care for one another.
In this cozy and supportive environment, our children are not just learning—they are truly thriving. With the tools and guidance they receive, they build confidence, master practical skills, and develop a lifelong love of discovery.
Research shows that outdoor, hands-on learning encourages critical thinking, enhances focus, fosters resilience, supports informed risk-taking, builds confidence, and strengthens problem-solving skills. At Folksy, children are inspired to explore their abilities and grow through collaboration, creativity, and play. A full day at Folksy is an adventure that nourishes the head, hands, and heart.2-day (Monday & Wednesday) 10:00am – 4:00pm $390/monthenrollment process for the 2026-2027 school year starts April 1, 2026 – please email hello@thefolksyhouse.org for more information
